A substantial 2.50-carat natural ruby of Thai origin, with an IGI report. Thailand is one of the classic historic sources for ruby, known for warm, deep red stones with a character of their own. Like most rubies it shows indications of heating, and it carries natural rutile silk — fine needle inclusions that are the unmistakable fingerprint of genuine, earth-mined corundum. It's worth noting that these close-up images are shot under high magnification and strong light, which exaggerates that internal silk; at normal viewing distance and in video the stone reads considerably cleaner and warmer to the eye, with the silk lending a soft, velvety glow rather than standing out. At two and a half carats, it's real size in a natural, honestly presented ruby.
