This 0.84 carat oval-cut ruby is a product of Mogok, Myanmar – the "Valley of Rubies" and the original source of the world's finest rubies for over 800 years, still considered by many in the trade to set the benchmark for ruby quality. Cut in a classic, elongated oval, the color is a bright, vivid red with good depth throughout, brought to its full expression through conventional heat treatment, the long-established process used throughout the trade. Clarity shows inclusions on closer inspection, but they read almost invisibly at normal viewing distance, leaving the stone looking clean and bright to the eye. In hand it's genuinely lively, with pleasant, consistent red flashes as it moves. The elongated proportions give it an elegant, slightly stretched presence well suited to a ring or pendant setting.
