This 1.825 carat pear-shaped sapphire comes from Chanthaburi, Thailand – one of the historic centers of the Southeast Asian sapphire and ruby trade, long known both for local mining and for its role as a major cutting and treatment hub. The color is a pleasant medium-to-deep blue, reading well across most of the stone. A visible feathery inclusion sits within the body of the stone, along with some texture toward one side, features that show clearly on close inspection. Aside from these, the stone carries good color and reasonable transparency for its size. The color owes its full expression to heat treatment.
