Ruby

Gemologist’s Note
A classic Burmese ruby in the timeless oval — the shape most people picture when they think of a fine red stone, and the one that sets most easily into a ring. Color is where this one speaks: in person it's a rich, bright red, vivid and full of energy to the eye, glowing rather than dark, with strong flashes coming off the brilliant crown. GIA confirms Burmese origin, the most prestigious source for ruby, and the stone is transparent, letting light move through it cleanly so the red reads open and alive. Like most rubies it has been heated, with moderate residues noted — heat is the oldest and most widely accepted of ruby treatments. A versatile, true Burmese oval with real presence of color: as at home in an engagement ring as in a collection.
