Sapphire

Gemologist’s Note
This 1.35 carat round mixed-cut sapphire from Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, shows a rich golden-yellow with a warm, honeyed depth that fills the stone evenly from culet to crown. Sapphire rough that yields a full round of this size without heavy weight loss is uncommon – the material typically forms in shapes better suited to ovals and cushions – so a clean round cut at 1.35 carats already speaks to an above-average piece of rough. The cutting is solid, with good facet alignment that returns light cleanly across the face, though without the razor-precision of a true ideal-cut round. In hand the stone is very lively, with constant sparkle moving across the surface as it's turned, and clarity is excellent – the stone reads clean to the eye throughout. The color owes its full expression to conventional heat treatment, confirmed by an International Gemological Institute (IGI) Colored Gemstone Report.
