Sapphire

Gemologist’s Note
Round is the most demanding cut for a pink sapphire — the shape sacrifices far more rough than an oval or cushion, which is why large rounds are so rarely seen in this material. At 2.29 carats, this one holds real size in a cut that usually forces size down. The color is a rich, vivid purple-pink with excellent saturation, eye clean, and the round brilliant faceting throws light evenly across the whole face with no dead zones. IGI notes indications of heating, standard practice for sapphire in this color range and consistent with Sri Lankan material. What makes it stand out isn’t rarity of treatment — it’s rarity of size and cut together.
