Sapphire

Gemologist’s Note
This 1.00 carat round-cut sapphire from Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, shows a beautifully complex pink, shifting between violet and warm orange-pink flashes as it catches the light – a multi-toned character that gives the stone far more depth than a single, flat pink would. The round brilliant cut is itself a rarity within Ceylon sapphire production, where elongated shapes are far more typical of the rough; achieving a full 1.00 carat round from this material required an especially well-formed piece of rough to begin with. In hand the stone is highly reflective, throwing consistent, sparkling brilliance across the full face with excellent light return at every angle. The color owes its full expression to conventional heat treatment, confirmed by an International Gemological Institute (IGI) Colored Gemstone Report.
