Russian Sapphire

Gemologist’s Note
Not every stone needs to shout. This one is bright, clean, golden-lime green — closer to citrus than to the honeyed ambers found elsewhere in this deposit's range — carried down an elongated octagon with a step-modified pavilion that adds just enough broken faceting to keep the color moving rather than sitting flat. Fine internal growth lines run the length of the stone, quiet confirmation of natural origin rather than a flaw to work around. At 1.24 carats and over nine millimeters long, it wears larger than its weight suggests. GFCO: no heat, no treatment, Sutara, Russia.
