Demantoid

Gemologist’s Note
A luminous golden horsetail sweeps through the heart of this 1.470 ct Russian demantoid garnet like a fan of fine silk threads. It is dense, sharply defined and glowing warm gold against the green body color, a classic Russian demantoid inclusion that shows exactly why collectors value it. Mined at the Korkodino deposit in the Ural Mountains, the stone has a juicy, saturated green with a lush, natural depth. It is green you can almost feel, rich and warm without turning dark. The interplay between the golden fibers and the green body gives the stone a living inner glow that no synthetic or simulant can reproduce. The round brilliant is Russian cut, measuring 6.90 × 6.90 × 4.30 mm. Its well-proportioned, classic geometry delivers excellent light return and a confident face-up presence for its weight. In person it is bright and spirited, with bursts of rainbow fire flaring from the crown as it moves, the high dispersion that gave demantoid its name, meaning “diamond-like.” It is natural and untreated, confirmed by the Marianovich Gems Certificate of Authenticity. Beautiful color, an expressive horsetail and precise Russian faceting make this a rare and beautiful Ural demantoid. It is a collectible natural gemstone with lasting investment value, equally suited to a statement ring or an heirloom pendant.
