Demantoid

Gemologist’s Note
Small in size but big in personality, this 0.560 ct Russian demantoid garnet from the Korkodino deposit in the Ural Mountains shows how much life a fine demantoid can hold in a single carat or less. The color is a juicy, saturated green, deep and fresh like new leaves after rain, and it stays rich and vibrant across the whole stone. Inside lies a single, gracefully formed horsetail. Its fine fibers arc softly through the table in one clean, elegant gesture rather than a crowded web, giving the stone a calm, refined beauty. This lone horsetail is the classic mark of Russian demantoid and a quiet guarantee of natural origin. The round brilliant is Russian cut, measuring 5.10 × 5.05 × 3.10 mm. Its well-balanced proportions let the light move freely through the stone, so it looks bright and lively at every angle. In person it is a truly living stone: it never sits still, catching the light with every movement and scattering sparks of green and spectral fire. That is the famous dispersion that gave demantoid its diamond-inspired name. It is natural and untreated, confirmed by the Marianovich Gems Certificate of Authenticity. Fine Korkodino color, a single elegant horsetail and precise Russian cutting make this a charming natural demantoid for an everyday solitaire, a stacking ring, or a meaningful gift that carries the history of Ural gemstones.
