This demantoid is a genuinely rare find from Korkodino – the original and now nearly exhausted source of Ural demantoid. What sets this stone apart is its color: a deep, saturated forest-green rarely seen even among Korkodino material, closer to the darkest end of the demantoid spectrum than the brighter, lighter-toned stones most people picture. Stones of this depth of color are uncommon, and in person the stone comes alive – its dispersion and fire read strongly under direct light, even though the intensity of the color can make it look almost black in flat or diffused lighting. Cut in Russia as a modified round brilliant, it carries the fine "horsetail" inclusions that mark genuine Ural origin. The color is fully natural and untreated.
