This 1.845 carat elongated oval sapphire is a product of Chanthaburi, Thailand. The color is a rich teal with an interesting zoning effect – color moving in distinct waves through the stone rather than sitting flat, adding real visual character to the face-up view. The cut is notably flat and elongated, with a face-up spread of roughly 9.2 x 7.2 mm; this sapphire wears like a stone in the 2.8-3 carat range, considerably larger than its actual weight. In hand it presents well, with good transparency letting the zoning read clearly through the crown. The color owes its full expression to heat treatment.
