This 1.260 carat heart-shaped ruby comes from Mong Hsu, Myanmar – Burmese ruby deposits formed roughly 30 million years ago, and Mong Hsu material has been prized since the material first entered the market in the early 1990s for its ability to reach the deepest, most saturated reds after treatment. The color is an intense, pure red with no visible brown or purple modifiers, the kind of hue the trade calls "pigeon blood," the most coveted color grade in ruby. The heart shape is well cut, with a clean, symmetrical cleft and even wings that hold the color consistently across the whole face rather than pooling it at the culet. Clarity is excellent, with the stone reading clean to the eye and unusually transparent for Burmese ruby, which frequently carries visible silk or fingerprint inclusions even in fine specimens. In hand it's extremely lively, throwing bright, saturated flashes with every movement, and the stone shows strong fluorescence, which adds to its glow in daylight and under UV light.
