A Russian demantoid of 1.37 carats, round brilliant cut, from the Korkodino deposit. The color is a pure, electric green — saturated and clean, with none of the olive or brownish drift that softens so much demantoid, holding its intensity from table to girdle. The horsetail here is the finest we have had in hand: fine byssolite fibers radiate outward in a dense, even fan that reaches across nearly the entire stone, sharply resolved and visible without magnification — as complete a demonstration of Uralian origin as the material offers. The Russian cut is precise and symmetrical, keeping the color lively rather than letting it go dark under its own saturation. A demantoid where the color and the horsetail are both working at their absolute best, and rarely found together at this level.
