Demantoid

Gemologist’s Note
A Russian demantoid of 0.205 carats from the Korkodino deposit, cut as an oval. The color is a dark, dense green, reading nearly black through the center of the stone and opening into true green only at the edges and along the facets that catch direct light — a saturation level that gives even a small stone real weight and presence. Fine byssolite threads run near the girdle, confirming Uralian origin. A demantoid whose color asks to be turned in the light rather than viewed flat — the darker it looks at rest, the more it rewards movement.
